Pro video blog…Produced by Philip Johnston DoP/Editor

I was looking over my .MOV list on my hard drive when I noticed a great wee review I did for the Panasonic AG-PX270, a camera I bought myself.

Most of my camera reviews were produced with my own cameras and not a manufacturer loan.

This brings me onto a lovely email I got yesterday from Andrew Jones, it reads as follows..

I have to say, I really miss your camera reviews. For whatever reason, I took much of my purchasing decision inspiration from your good self and never regretted the choices I made. I thank you for that.

Now that’s a feather in my cap and I do not mind admitting this, I try to keep my reviews as honest as possible which is why I prefer to own the camera before I review one. It also forced manufacturers to update firmware if I found a glaring flaw.

I am getting older and don’t have the same need or urgency to own the latest camera so this blog has been running stale for a few months, sorry.

Having been working in the video business since 1988 I have amassed a great amount of knowledge of both the kit and production values over the last 30 years.

  1. Actually bought a Panasonic AF-101 based on your review together with the DVD you created. AF is still in excellent condition and has worked on broadcasts and even shot segments for a film.
