If you are intending to use “Cinematic” mode in FCPX you need the following…

Firstly you need to update your OS to Ventura 13.2.1 or you will get a nag from FCPX telling you that you need to update.

Secondly you also need to update FCPX to 10.6.5 and finally update your iPhone 14 to 16.3.1

I have struggled with “Cinematic” mode up until the latest IOS as it did not work properly but with a good bit of perseverance it now works fine.

I love the fact you can choose the focus point after the event but be careful its not all plain sailing.

As seen above Apple leave a fair margin (Darkened area) that you have no control over when choosing a focus point. Everything outside that dark area is a focus point.
