It was my nephews wedding and as usual I cant be at a wedding and not film it, this time with the Insta 360 Luna Ultra. Fortunately it was being filmed by two young professional videographers, Rob and Leonardo.

Rob and Leonardo were great on the day and gave me carte blanch to film the wedding ceremony. They were both using Sony A7S III cameras and Leonardo had a refurbished Super 8mm Chinon cine camera.
The Insta 360 Luna Ultra let me down 4 times during the ceremony by overheating and closing down, unfortunately most of the congregation also heard the camera “Overheating” as it gives off a warning message. The following day I ran the camera for 90 minutes @ 4K 50p with no overheating issue. It seems if you are holding the camera rather than mounting it on a tripod etc your hand will exacerbate the overheating problem. I was sitting in the end of an isle to get the action and had no where to mount it.

Fortunately I was a guest and my footage was “extra” to the event I’m sure the official wedding videographers have a fantastic video to offer the couple.
Back to the Insta 360 Luna Ultra, would I recommend it for weddings, at the moment only the outside shots. Insta need to address the overheating problem ASAP and give us a proper way to view overexposure with zebras.
