The absolute best pair of glasses that a blind person could ever purchase… My friend Chris, who once worked for me at Speedway, over thirty-five years ago, conducting interviews, is blind! He managed to keep it a secret, and most of the riders remained completely unaware of Chris’s blindness! Some facts for my production friends, the video side of the glasses produce 1440×1920 @30 Fps (Vertical mode only) with a 12MP photographic image.

Today Chris and I did an experiment, he went to the shops alone something his lovely wife Carolyn was not happy about but Chris being the true hero put all his faith in his new glasses and me. I watched in real time! How Chris has to evade all the obstacles: like bushes, wheelie bins, and badly parked cars! I was able, via WhatsApp video, to direct Chris, as the glasses also have a set of high-quality speakers built into both legs of his glasses!

As usual I recorded our escapades which will be at the bottom of this page. Unfortunately the AI part of his glasses are not yet avaliable so he doesn’t get feedback from a virtual assistant, describing what he is viewing, yet, that will come with a future firmware update.

Chris is one of the most positive people you could wish to meet and its no surprise that he is in the caring profession. In fact here is a word from Chris himself…

Chris “I have had these glasses now for a couple of weeks. Do I like them? Yes I certainly do. Do the Help yes of course I do and little ways that might seem simple for example I can phone or talk with keeping both of my hands free. If I get stuck, then I can video call a friend or contact Be My Eyes. In this way, they’re really helpful. I don’t wear them in the house but wear them going out and about to work for a couple of reasons”

“Some of the AI features that I would use for example look and describe and look and read are not enabled here. I am unsure why but it is quite frustrating. Also, I’m aware that there are AI features such as Compose an email et cetera which are not available here. Do I regret purchasing these glasses? No but I think there are many many things to come which will make these Gamechangers for people with a visual impairment.”
