Having been working in the video business since 1988 I have amassed a great amount of knowledge of both the kit and production values over the last 30 years.

  1. Great to see you out and about. Looks like a good piece of kit doesn’t it. Would it fit another Panasonic product like the GX8 do you think?

  2. Hello Philip, I wonder if I may suggest a few improvements to the Sony FS5,
    1. Stop the continuous warning signs to tell you that the card is finished all over the camera.
    2. If you change the zoom direction on the lens, the monitor display is the opposite.
    3. The worst one is the focusing indicator, why does it go off? It would be nice if it stayed on when in manual mode or stayed on all the time.
Is it possible for you to pass this to Sony?
Also can you advise me which lens will fully function with the camera, thank you.

  3. Hi, yes good to see you are active again and presumably very much better. I ordered a VARY-i for my GH4 which arrived a couple of days ago. I liked what I saw in your blog and can confirm that it is exactly what I have been looking for. It is very specific for the GH4 but I suspect that it would not take much for the brackets to be re-designed for other cameras with identically sized screens. OK, it is not easy to touch the screen with it on, but if you are using the camera manually as I do for focus most of the time, that does not matter.
