Having been working in the video business since 1988 I have amassed a great amount of knowledge of both the kit and production values over the last 30 years.

Great piece, thanks for putting it up Philip!
One question (video novice here:), during the interview the camera jumps into a tight-shot from a half-lenthish shot – its a nice effect. Would this be something shot on say 4K, then cropped on a 2K timeline?
I’ve been wondering as to the merits of shooting interviews in 4K. Being a solo operator (stills guy) shooting 4K for interviews seems to “potentially” offset the need for multiple cameras, tripods etc. In effect cropping like we do with our stills kit!
Your thoughts. Daft idea?
Cheers, Chris.
PS. I’ve been enjoying the SONY NX70 immensely (as per your recommendation:) its a very enjoyable way to shoot video – unlike my DSLR kit. But I’ve been wondering if upgrading to the new SONY 4K camera would offer any “real world” benefits, namely cropping & zooming?
HDW : I doubt this was shot on 4K, I think its timeline was before 4K was available, 4K would indeed allow you some reframing on a 2K timeline.
