Pro video blog…Produced by Philip Johnston DoP/Editor

me and Sir Winston

This is me at the Victory Services Club in the heart of London just after BVE 2016, since my trip to BVE I have suffered a small stroke so have to take things a lot slower even blogging. My speech is affected as is my balance but I have been lucky, so no reviews for a while and no late night blogging. I am so sorry to my regulars  who like their daily dose of HD Warrior.

For  a while I will have guest postings the first from a good friend of mine Simon Beer from Production Gear.

Having been working in the video business since 1988 I have amassed a great amount of knowledge of both the kit and production values over the last 30 years.

  1. Watch TV rather than make it for a while will you? Know that people care about you, and do what it takes to get back on your feet in a healthy manner.

  2. Just remember Philip you are a true Samurai and HD Warrior be it FHD or UHD. May you recover quickly and be out and about before too long testing the latest cameras for us on your website.

  3. Hope you get well soon. I also appreciate your blog and postings even though I don’t comment. Thanks Philip

  4. Do get better soon Philip. You’re such an experienced and valuable contributor to this industry that, here in Wales, we wish you a speedy recovery!!

  8. Hi Philip,
I just stopped by the HD Warrior site and am so sorry to read the news about your stroke.
As a frequent reader (and you’ve even been generous enough to occasionally feature my own ramblings!) I appreciate your efforts in helping guide those of us who are trying to learn more about video production (I’m coming at it from a long-time stills photography background) and can only echo the many other messages of support here in wishing you all the best for a full recovery in the coming months.
Best wishes to you and the family …please listen to the medics and take care of yourself!
    Regards …Peter
