Canon 1DX v2

When I first saw this camera my first thoughts were “not again” a DSLR with upgraded video features but one feature in particular caught my eye… improved EOS Intelligent Tracking and Recognition system.

Having just filmed my sons wedding last weekend the Sony FS5 could do with Canons focusing system. I was led to believe via Alister Chapman’s video about the FS5 that the new face detection was one of the best of its kind yet as a remote camera that is far from the truth. Fortunately I had 5 cameras filming the ceremony so a focus hunting FS5 won’t be a disaster.

The video below shows the new Canon perform some cracking tracking shots and 4K 50p is quite something although that uses expensive C-Fast cards.

Having been working in the video business since 1988 I have amassed a great amount of knowledge of both the kit and production values over the last 30 years.

  1. Nice beast with nice images.
Can we at least get focus peaking in 2016?
