Nigel Wilkes just posted this today “On Thursday 3rd August, Panasonic will announce the final information about the EVA-1”

This is one side of the EVA-1 we have not seen till now, I hope there is a rocker switch on the EVA-1 and the implementation of VSM (Variable Scan Mapping) as seen on the JVC LS300 or at least the ability to zoom into the 4K chip.

Price will the the make or brake of EVA-1, I am still hoping for a figure of no more than £5,500 incl vat.

Having been working in the video business since 1988 I have amassed a great amount of knowledge of both the kit and production values over the last 30 years.

  1. Ah, interesting. That “under $8000” certainly is up there, but it worth comparing to (e.g.) the Sony FS7 which I think is more its target audience. I’m not too optimistic it is going to be under $7000.

I’m hoping that Panasonic will announce updates to the DVX200 line now that the EVA-1 is launched and the GH5 is out with better specs.

  2. It’s been announced, $7,495 USD, 5,707.00 British Pounds plus tax or VAT. Same 150Mbit maximum bit-rate as the GH5 until a firmware update
