Once again JVC is adding value to the highly acclaimed GY-LS300 4K camcorder with a new firmware upgrade due in April.
JVC…”JVC has announced a new slow motion recording upgrade for the GY-LS300 4KCAM handheld Super 35 camcorder. Available via a free firmware upgrade in April, the high-speed mode records HD footage at up to 120 frames per second.
The technology also drives the Prime Zoom feature, which enables fixed-focal (prime) lenses to zoom in and out without losing resolution or depth of field. Other features include the J-Log gamma setting, which expands dynamic range by 800 percent with film-like latitude and a built-in HD streaming engine with Wi-Fi and 4G connectivity for live transmission to hardware decoders or content delivery networks (CDNs). The camera records 4K, HD and SD footage in a variety of formats to dual SDHC/SDXC card slots.”
Great to know upgrades are coming. Now how about the audio problem I have been experiencing – the camera does not take high volume live music well. In any setting, the camera seems to stay in AGC mode, which kills my footage while filming concerts or wedding receptions.
Hi, have You got any ready -made picture presets for the GY-LS300 video camera? It’s problematic for me to achieve good results outside during the sunny weather and the same problems while recording concerts lightened with blue LED light. Maybe it is possible to buy some ready-made picture presets. Help!
Hi, greatly enjoy reading your blog! B&H have a promotion, pricing the LS300 at $2,795, including a $250 voucher, making it effectively $2,545.
I’m aware you’ve been using this camera professionally for the past few months. Considering the light speed pace of 4k video cameras, do you think the LS300 is still worth it?
Thanks and keep up the great posts!
HDW : The JVC LS300 is a great camera, I love it to bits. It is so compatible with all my micro4/3 lenses making is a winner for me personally. I hate chasing lenses, when I had the FS7/FS5 I needed Sony E mount which was a pain or a speed booster with large bulky Canon mount lenses. Since my swap over to the M4/3 system I am a lot happier plus the major bonus of the Panasonic GH5 on the horizon.
